Geothermal High Temperature Steam Plant
Reykjanesvirkjun
Production of energy from Reykjanesvirkjun began in May 2006 after numerous tests and test run had been made. Machine number 1 began its production in mid-May and Machine 2 by the end of May. The energy plant is designed in order for it to be controlled from a distance in control room in Svartsengi.
Reykjanesplant is only a electrical energy plant which is comprised of two 50 twin steam turbines with sea cooled condensers, a first in Iceland, and use 2x2000 l/s separated pumping system.
